A Big White Dog Showed Up

Updated: Oct 1, 2024

A big white dog showed up in Linda’s yard.

She thinks it was left by herders

who summered up Snow Canyon.

“Great Pyrenees,” she said. “Lame though.

Probably why it was left behind.”

“That’s something!” I told her on the phone.

“They’re guardians.  Protect the flock,”

thinking how she acts tough but isn’t.

“I know that!” she interrupted,  “And don’t

give me any spirit dog woo woo shit.”

“I won’t!” I said.“But it’s not every day

a Great Pyrenees shows up in a person’s yard.”

She was quiet on the other end.

She knows I know some things.  For my friend’s sake,

I hope to God that big white dog sticks around.
